Oaxaca City tours are conceived as 6-hour days, to take into account the afternoon heat and our experience that most travellers enjoy a 6-hour tour most.. Here are a few possible options:

Within Oaxaca City:

Walking tour of city center can incude: parks, market tasting tours, finest quality handicrafts in an artisans cooperative and tour of chocolate mills or visit to one of several museums including Oaxacan Painters Museum, Textile Museum, and Museum of Contemporary Art.

Nearby Oaxaca City:

Route A

• Demonstrations of Black pottery in the homes of the finest potters of San Bartolo Coyotepec; Demonstration of carving and painting the famous copal animal figurines in San Martin Tilcajete; pottery or friday market in Ocotlan

Route B (combine 3 of the following options for a full day)

• Teotitlan del Valle: Demonstrations of carding, spinning and dying wool as well as weaving process at a womens weaving coop;  visit to local candle makers who fashion wax into ornate patterns to decorate traditional Fiesta candles; and along the same road either visit 2000 year old cypress “Tule” tree, the famous Tlacolula market or observe mezcal production in a traditional palenque.

There are many other custom options, depending on your interests:  such as visiting a healer, experiencing a sweat lodge or visiting an eco-demonstration site with rainwater catchment, wind and solar energy, adobe constructions, and more.
